Sprinkler Alarms

There are three main methods to employ a sprinkler alarm.

Method 1: Connection to the existing 240V, inter connected fire alarms:

Many houses now have mains operated, battery backup, interlinked smoke alarms. A two core cable can be connected from the Valve Group's flow switch to the nearest smoke detector. If the sprinkler system activates, the flow switch on the valve group will send a signal to the smoke alarms and the smoke alarms will all sound.

This is often the prefered method as it is cost effective and ensures that the dwellings occupants only have to be familiar with one type of fire alarm sound. In fact, it is wrong to have two types of sounds to represent a fire.

Method 2: Connection to the buildings fire alarm panel:

Many dwellings, especially residential dwellings, have a full fire system that is connected to a fire panel. In this situation, the sprinkler system should be connected to a zone of its own.

Method 3: Stand Alone Sprinkler Alarm:

A stand alone sprinkler alarm system should ONLY be fitted where there is no other fire alarm system to connect to.
