Maintaining your Sprinkler System

Fire Sprinkler Systems need little care and will last at least 50 years. Just remember two things.

First, do not paint them. The added coat of paint will absorb heat and can delay the operation of the sprinkler. The paint can also prevent water from flowing.

Second, do not hang anything on them like decorations, plant holders or anything else. Sprinklers are sturdy, but hanging something on them could dislodge the device that holds the water back.

Apart from the above, Triangle Fire Systems offer an annual service that includes:

  • Power Supply Unit (PSU) service. The PSU and battery will be inspected and tested.
  • The flow switch will be tested to ensure it operates the alarm.
  • All heads and any accessible pipe work will be inspected for damage/leakage.
  • Water pressure will be tested to ensure it still complies with the design pressure required by the installed system.
  • A flow test will be carried out to functionally test the alarms and to ensure that the required flow rate is suitable for the installed system.
  • Any alterations to the protected building will be examined to ensure the installed system has not been compromised by these alterations. If there are any discrepancies a full report will be sent to the property owner, outlining the area of concern and any remedial action that may be required.
